| The photographs on this website were captured by ten members of the Palo Alto Camera Club to help commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS). These and other images were shown at a print exhibit held at the Center during the three reunion events from April through June 2005. Some were incorporated into an 18-month calendar (preview) for Fellows, staff and others interested in the Center and its special environment. And many more were included in a multimedia DVD developed as a "photographic tour" of the Center. A description of the calendar and DVD (with prices) may be found on this page. The Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, founded in 1954, provides a Fellowship Program each year for 40 scholars from the humanities, social sciences, and biological sciences. Situated on a beautiful hilltop site overlooking the Stanford campus and beyond, the Center provides a tranquil and secluded setting conducive to the reflection, creativity and focus needed by Fellows pursuing their scholarly work. The Palo Alto Camera Club (www.pacamera.com), founded in 1935, consists of over fifty serious amateurs interested in working together to enhance and broaden their photographic skills and artistic vision by showing their images for critique, learning from others with similar interests, and participating in special programs and field trips. For those interested in purchasing the calendars or DVDs described above, please visit this page or contact the Palo Alto Camera Club. Individual prints of images from the calendar or exhibit are also available on special request. |
