Coordinator: Caroline Lambert

Description:The Bay Area Senior Games is an annual event held at Stanford and other nearby locations in the spring of each year. Athletes must be 50 or over and can compete in a variety of sports, with events spread out over several weekends. We will focus on the events being held at Stanford on March 10 with swimming, waterpolo, soccer, and basketball on Saturday, and if there is interest, come back on Sunday for track&field, soccer, and water polo.

In order to participate in this event, each photographer must sign a waiver of liability and agree to wear an official photography vest to identify themselves. The list of participants from the club must be turned in two weeks before the event, so if you want to come, you must sign up by Feb 24.

In return for permission to attend the Games as photographers, the organizers would like us to share some of the photos for use on their web site.

If anyone particularly wants to photograph an event on another weekend, we will need to make arrangements with the event organizers.

What to bring:
- Camera gear including filters, extra memory or film, and charged batteries
- Tripod
- Long lenses for sports shots, mid range for capturing the atmosphere.
- Concession stands will be available, but you can bring your own snacks too.
- It could be wet and cold, or warmish and sunny, so dress accordingly.
- Sun protection, such as a sun hat and sunscreen.
- Good walking shoes

Directions, meeting time and place, parking info, where to get photography vest, etc., will come later. For now, we just need to know who is coming.

Jasper Ridge

Coordinator: Caroline Lambert

Description: This is a special sunrise trip to Jasper Ridge offered by fellow club member Dan Quinn. Photographically this trip should be great for lovely oak tree landscapes, potential wildflowers, and possible wildlife.

Location: Jasper Ridge Biological Reserve

Sunday, May 6, was chosen because it is one day past full moon, the sun rises at 6:07 am, and the almost-full moon sets at 6:24 am. This will provide great opportunities to photograph the sunrise and the moonset. We will start at the Goya gate and work our way into the preserve. The whole trip should take 2 to 3 hours with the option for a post shoot breakfast!

Sunday, May 6, is one day past full moon, the sun rises at 6:07 am, and the almost-full moon sets at 6:24 am.

Hard rain will cancel.

Special instructions for this trip:
1. No late arrivals, you must arrive on time.
2. We must be QUIET as we enter the preserve to ensure we do not disturb the neighbors.
2. You must sign up, we need to ensure we have enough docents.
3. Non Stanford folks must sign an accident waiver, we'll do this the morning of the trip.
4. Consider sharing an image with the Jasper Ridge, for their annual report (one time non-exclusive use).

What to bring:
- $5.00 (or more) donation to the preserve for everyone who is not a Stanford student, faculty member, or staff
- Camera gear including filters, extra memory or film, and charged batteries
- Tripod
- Long lenses for wildlife, mid range for landscape, and macro lenses for flowers or insects
- Water
- Layered clothing, a warm jacket, consider a warm hat, and gloves
- Good solid walking shoes
- Flashlights!

Inspiration:
Dan has many Jasper Ridge images on his website at <http://capturethelight.zenfolio.com/jasperridge> . Look for "Goya" or "Escobar Gate" to see the country we will be photographing.

Directions: Map to meeting place in Portola Valley.
When you get to the top of Bear Paw, turn right and park off the street in a pullout.

Meeting: We'll meet at the parking lot at Dan Quinn's house at 5:15 am sharp; we will leave the meeting point at 5:30.
- Carpool: Sign up will come later.
- Warning: You must be on time! Unfortunately we cannot accommodate late arrivals.
- Travelling information: It takes about 15 minutes to get there from Dan's house.
