"Painted Photographs"
(from "Blah" to "Wow")

by member Dany Suk

"My goal is to show how I use Corel Painter to convert otherwise "blah" photographic images to images with a painterly appearance that express my own personal artistic vision, and perhaps evoke a "Wow!" in the viewer.

I’ll begin with the basics of the Corel Painter program. Components will include:

  • demonstrating the Painter X workspace
  • importing photos into Painter
  • the Brush Selector
  • basic Cloning technique
  • painting photographs

The bulk of the evening will be used to demonstrate how I add these painterly elements to some of my own photographic images. Many of the final images have been entered in previous club competitions.

By the end of the evening I hope some of you will feel inspired and comfortable in trying some of these techniques to bring out your own 'inner artist'."
