Luminescent Eucalyptus Tree Log, an image by Wright Schickli, was selected for inclusion in The Beauty of Decay exhibition by The Chateau Gallery. Beauty is subjective in the eye of the viewer. Societal conventions pressure us to conform to like-mindedness, yet the most ethereal craft often originates from divergent work that transgresses tradition. Chateau sought images that question or break away from established norms of beauty. The exhibition runs from July 1 through August 1. Wright says: Luminescent Eucalyptus Tree Log is just that…a macro shot of a four inch section of one of the many eucalyptus logs scattered about the Stanford Arboretum near the cactus garden. I thought I detected some blue in my first photo of the log and went back a couple of times before the lighting was better and I could capture what I noticed. I changed the title from Starry Night in the Cactus Garden because I think the PACC Judge thought the photo was something I created in photoshop which of course I don’t know (or want to know) how to do.

Set in the heart of Historic Old Louisville Preservation District, The Chateau Gallery, aka TCG, is a contemporary hybrid art gallery and studio with a narrative as captivating as the artwork housed within its walls. The building’s unique Chateauesque Victorian architecture lends itself to the gallery’s name. Throughout its many lives, this building has served as the estate of a tobacco baron, a funeral home, the Kentucky College of Barbering, an unlicensed child care center, a "drug dealer's palace," and a law office.
