Shopping, an image by Wright Schickli, was selected for inclusion in the Diptych ~ Open Theme Exhibition at the Praxis Gallery and Photo Arts Center in Minneapolis. A diptych is more than just two photos – it is a conversation between images. By pairing frames side-by-side, photographers can bridge gaps in space, time, and meaning to create a unified narrative. Praxis Gallery invited artists to submit works that explore this unique format. The exhibition was curated by Praxis directors. The exhibition runs from March 21 through April 11; and the opening reception will place on Saturday, March 21. You can view these interesting pairings in the temporary online gallery, here: https://www.praxisphotocenter.org/temp-gallery-1-2ab3.
Wright says: This is one of my first attempts at a diptych, combining a shot from Niles with a shopping cart I snapped a few blocks from home. The Niles photo is an abandoned car that, to me, looked like the nature behind it; and the shopping cart shapes and lines seemed to echo them and add another mysterious aspect.
