Facility, an image by Wright Schickli, was selected by Black Box Gallery for inclusion in the On-Line Annex portion of the Framed: Black and White group photo show. Black and white photography has a tradition of luminous, well-crafted, and thoughtfully composed imagery. Black Box Gallery solicited images from contemporary photographers engaged in a dialogue with history and tradition, but with their own modern voices, visions and aesthetics. The juror was Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery. Twenty-six images were selected for the Exhibition Gallery, and an additional 50 images were selected for inclusion in the On-Line Gallery Annex. The exhibition runs from May 1 through May 25; and the reception took place on Saturday, May2. Images in the exhibition may be accessed online at https://blackboxgallery.com/Framed-Black and White-2026-EP.html.
Wright says: This facility is located just off Highway 1 near Pescadero. I escaped from there many years ago and remain at large… I go back because I love the contrast of the layers in each section of the photo, and the haunting look of this place in black and white. It all looks so out of place across from a beautiful coastline.
