Booted (Recoleta 2025), an image by Wright Schickli, was selected for inclusion in the forgotten exhibition at the A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas. A Smith invited fine-art photographers to explore the evocative concepts of the abandoned, the lost, and the bypassed, reflecting the theme, “forgotten”. The juror for the exhibition was Ann Mitchell – artist, teacher, and curator. The exhibition runs from July 31 through September 10. The reception will take place at 3 pm CDT on August 29 and will be posted as a pre-recorded YouTube video in Gallery Conversations. Wright says: Booted is a photo I captured near the end of a dead-end alley in Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires. I spotted this array of boots and shoes on top of a tall weather-worn doorway and thought it would make an interesting photograph. The alley was very narrow, and even with a 21mm lens, I had trouble capturing the scene I saw. The cemetery was my favorite place to photograph in Buenos Aires. I recommend going there for a few hours at different times of the day when you are there.
