PACC member Chris Stevens-Yu has been awarded Honorable Mention in the Amateur Street category of the 2020 Monochrome Photography Awards for his image, Perseverance.

Monochrome Awards is an international Black and White photography contest for professional and amateur photographers.  Images by First, Second, and Third Place winners, together with images by Honorable Mention winners, from each of thirteen categories of photography are showcased on the online Winners Gallery.

Perseverance is a two-time winning image.  Judge Dan Katzman had the good taste to award this image First Place in the Open category, as well as Image of the Month, in the PACC November 11, 2020, Digital Competition.

Chris Stevens-Yu:  Perseverance

Chris says:  The Pandemic really ignited a passion in me for street photography.  Wanting to document these times, I frequently went into San Francisco and would walk the City.  This image was made along the Embarcadero Center’s walkway where I spotted an amazing “pocket of light” and placed my camera on the ground to wait for something to happen.  This person came along and the posture along with the mask screamed “perseverance!” to me, which is what 2020 was all about.
