Image by Elaine Heron Selected for the Salon at the Triton Museum

Ellen Gilkerson | Published on 6/12/2021

PACC member Elaine Heron’s image, Night on the Gobi Desert, has been selected for inclusion in the 2021 Salon at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara.

The Salon is a 2D art competition and exhibition comprising painting, drawing, printmaking and photography.  The exhibition runs from June 26 through September 12.  Jurors were Jeff Bramschreiber, Elke Groves, and Francisco Pancho Jiménez.

Elaine says:  I captured this a little after sunset in the Gobi desert in Mongolia. The Bactrian (two humped) camels are a primary mode of transportation and are also used for moving goods.  We saw one family moving their house to winter quarters on several of these camels.  I think my Sony ILCE-9 did an excellent job of capturing this high contrast scene in low light conditions.  There was some noise, but that was largely removed with Topaz AI Noise.
