Image by Barbara Davidson Selected by the Praxis Gallery

Ellen Gilkerson | Published on 1/7/2022

An image by PACC member Barbara Davidson has been selected for inclusion in The Shadow Aspect exhibition at the Praxis Gallery and Photographic Arts Center in Minneapolis.  In this exhibition Praxis intended to present photographic art that explores the formal, conceptual and metaphoric implications of the shadow.  The juror was Sandra Chen Weinstein.

Barbara’s image, Reflectionsis part of a series exploring reflections and shadows on shiny surfaces.  She says:  The photos were taken outdoors in dappled sunlight.  The work is a composite: the black and white image was cut out and scanned onto a solid background.  The original background was a cream color but the black seemed to be more dynamic and to work better for this particular image.

The in-gallery exhibition will take place January 15 through 29, with the opening reception on Saturday, January 15.
