Image by Brandon Stauffer Selected by the Praxis Gallery

Shrapnel Number Three, an image by PACC member Brandon Stauffer, has been selected for inclusion in The Life of Color exhibition at the Praxis Gallery and Photographic Arts Center in Minneapolis.

Color is a powerful tool in composing a poetic visual statement and is highly descriptive in developing the imaginative capabilities of the mind’s eye. In this exhibition, Praxis Gallery presents photographic art that explores color as a central device in the creation of compelling photographic art. The exhibition was curated by Praxis Directors.

Brandon says: This image is a composite of multiple ICM abstracts that I made in my backyard during the summer. I played with the colors in Photoshop and then used different blend modes (including Divide and Screen) between the layers with varying opacities to get the final composition and color scheme. As for the title, when I looked at the image, the crazy chaos reminded me of shrapnel flying all over the place – not that I’ve ever witnessed it.

It's a great relief to know that no animals were harmed in the making of this image.

The in-gallery exhibition will be on the walls November 19 through December 3. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, November 19 from 6 to 8 pm.
