Image by Judy Kramer Selected for PJCC Art Show

Ellen Gilkerson | Published on 7/25/2023

Snowy Bison, an image by PACC member Judy Kramer, has been selected for inclusion in the second Juried Community Art Show at the Peninsula Jewish Community Center in Foster City.  Eighty-four pieces by 72 Bay Area artists are included in the show, which is on-site in the lobby, the art gallery, and the boardroom.  Emily De Martini, Rachel Goldman, Rachel Kardos, Eve Lerman, Shirley Lim, and Sandy Morse were the jurors.  The show, comprising photography, mixed media, and 3-dimensional objects, opened on July 12 and will run through September 26.  The reception and awards presentation will take place on Sunday, July 30, from 3 to 5 pm.  Click on the link in the details section of this announcement to register.

Judy says:  I took the photo in Yellowstone National Park in January 2023, as I was on a photography workshop based in West Yellowstone.  It was cold and snowing, but fortunately we didn’t have blizzard conditions.  This was the first bison we saw, nestled in the snow.  Bisons’ faces become snow-covered when they use their heads to push a path through the snow and to find grass underneath.  It is amazing that they can keep warm.  The scene was almost colorless, so I liked the black and white version.
