Images by PACC members Nadine Levin, and Allyson Ely will be included in Pretty in Pink –  the 6th Annual Color-Themed Photography Exhibit of the Gray Loft Gallery in Oakland.  The show will run from January 20 through February 24.  The opening and closing receptions will take place on January 20 and February 24, respectively, from 4 to 6:30 PM.

For the Pretty in Pink exhibition, Gray Loft Gallery called for photographers with an eye for capturing the beauty, emotion and symbolism of the color pink to create a visually stunning photo show dedicated to exploring the various dimensions of pink through the lens of the camera.  Jurors were Ann Jastrab, Executive Director of the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, and Gray Loft Gallery founder and owner Jan Watten.

Nadine’s image in the exhibition is Pink Flowers in the Midst of Falling Apart and Losing Focus.  She says: I created this conceptual image in the early stages of the pandemic to express my feelings of needing to be protected and yet feeling like I was losing focus and fraying.

Allyson  says:  Water Lilies, Giverny was taken at Monet’s Japanese-inspired water garden.  Looking across to the famous green bridge, the pond was alive with water lilies in bloom.  Looking down at those right in front of me, I could see clouds reflected in the water surrounding the  lilies.  This vignette offered a more intimate and delicate version of the larger pond, and so it was this view that I chose to capture.  This was taken at a time when I photographed only on vacation, and with an iPhone or point-and-shoot.  My camera that day was an old iPhone.
